This is the start of our stories becoming intertwined.
Multilingual Mums draws out people’s stories.
When I tell people what I do
and share my story of creating Multilingual Mums,
it’s an opportunity for them to share their stories.
Sparks fly in that recognition of
a shared experience or story or feeling,
and by finding that common ground,
we recognize that we are not alone.
Many beginnings of our Multilingual Mums stories
take place face to face, whether in person or online,
and were beautiful moments we may remember forever!
We might not have anything to hold on to but the memory.
Sometimes we’re lucky enough to have a little souvenir.
Sometimes we meet through writing:
exchanging texts, WhatsApp group chats, or email.
We are left with the gifts of the messages from others.
See the sparks fly from connections made at the library!
“When I saw the flyer at the library I was like “I want this!” I want to meet people like these. Thank you for making the group.
Multilingual mums. That got me.
And seeing that you have playdates and date on places that I know and are closer to me made me feel that I can be there too with them.
I'm a person that loves culture, I love my culture and I love sharing it with others and I love learning from others about their cultures.
The WhatsApp group and the name of the group got me 👌🏼
I don't know a lot of people that use WhatsApp here in the States and it is my primary way to communicate with my family.”

Hi Raquel! Maite mentioned you when she got home from the library today. Friendships formed there are so important! I have spent so much time at the library with my kids. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. Hopefully we meet someday soon!
Hi Anna, Thank you for your message. When Maite told me about your project I found it very interesting as we are a multicultural family. I would love to be part of it! Please let me know where to start! Looking forward to hearing from you and being a part of your community!
I love your enthusiasm and I'd love for you to be part of the community!
